根据周一的公告，该服务的技术测试阶段预计将于下个月开始，然后在2023年5月至7月期间向公众推出。
FedNow于2019年获得美联储批准，旨在通过取代现有的实时支付（RTP）网络来推进美国的现代支付，该网络由于地理和时间相关障碍而使支付变得轭辙。一旦服务上线，用户就可以在一天中的任何时间发送和接收即时付款，从而使他们能够更灵活地管理资金并进行时间敏感的付款。
“FedNow服务将改变整个经济中的日常支付方式，通过在任何一天的任何时间发送即时付款的能力，为家庭和企业带来可观的收益，并且资金立即可供收件人进行其他支付或有效管理现金流。美国联邦储备委员会副主席Lael Brainard说。
根据公告，对该服务的访问将通过美联储的“FedLine网络”提供，这是一种基于网络的解决方案，旨在有效，安全和可靠地促进电子支付。超过120家组织和银行已经在测试该项目的试点阶段。
